Thinking of becoming a Parent Governor?

I am very much looking forward to welcoming a new parent governor to our board at a really interesting time for our school. This new governor will be fully involved in developing the strategic plan for Perran-ar-worthal School, which will cover the next 3 to 5 years and help to guide the future development of the school as it continues to grow within its 7 class structure.

We are a small group of people, supported by our clerk, who are responsible for making sure the school provides a good quality education for all pupils.  Meetings follow a formal agenda, but the atmosphere is informal.  We work as a team, as everyone brings different skills and experiences.

Raising educational standards in school is a key priority for everyone at Perran-ar-worthal. We do this by setting direction, policies & procedures together and alongside the head teacher, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.

If you are thinking of standing, do talk to our other parent governors, contact me for a chat or come to an information session (date to be confirmed) where I, Rachel Heffer, and one or two of our existing governors will be happy to discuss informally the role of parent governor.
