The School Day

START AND END OF THE SCHOOL DAY
  • Children from EYFS to Yr6 should start to arrive at school at 8.35am to ensure they are in their classroom in time for a prompt 8.45am morning registration.
  • All pupils need to enter through their classroom door which will be unlocked by the class teacher at 8.35am and locked promptly at 8.45am.
  • If a child arrives after 8.45am, they must report to the office where the parent will need to fill in a late arrival form giving reasons for their child's late attendance.
  • Please note that late arrivals are monitored closely. The school will seek to support families to address regular lateness.
  • All pupils from EYFS to Yr6 end the day at 3.15pm.
  • To ensure all pupils are handed over to the adult who is collecting safely at the end of the school day, we ask you to wait by the external door of the child's classroom where the child can then be handed over to you by their class teacher.
PLEASE NOTE: Your child is entitled to a minimum of 32.5hrs of school access each day. Making sure your child arrives in time for their 8.45am registration is vital to ensure they do not miss out on any part of their education.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF PARENTS
  • It is the parents' responsibility to ensure their child arrives at school on time and picked up promptly at the end of the school day.
  • If your child is not able to attend school i.e. due to illness or unplanned circumstances, parents must contact the school office by phone, email or dojo by 8.45am on the day of the child's absence and give a reason for why they will not be able to attend school on that day.
  • If your child's attendance falls below 95%, this will be monitored closely.
  • If there is a concern regarding regular absences, the school will invite you to an attendance meeting to help improve your child's attendance and, where necessary, involve the Educational Welfare Officer to support the family further.
  • We strongly discourage term time holidays as this can affect a child's learning, progress and friendships. Term time holidays cannot be authorised. We encourage parents to read our School Attendance Policy for more information about penalty notices.
  • You must contact the school office on 01872 863004 by 3.15pm if you are not able to get to school on time due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • If the school has not been informed by 3.20pm that your child is being picked up late, the office will try to contact you to inform you that your child will be placed in wraparound until you arrive. Please note that anytime beyond 3.30pm late pick-up will incurr a wraparound booking fee.
  • Please also inform the school office if you need to change arrangements for which adult will be picking up your child at the end of the school day so that staff are aware of these changes when they are handing over children. These changes will be added to the classroom pick-up arrangement sheet.
  • As the children get older, those who live in the village, can be given permission by their parents to walk home. It is vital that you inform the school office if your child is allowed to walk home.
  • Any change to the usual after school pick-up arrangements must be communicated to the school office before the end of the school day to ensure staff are fully aware of whom they should be handing your child over to or whether your child has been given permission to walk home.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
If your child has been signed up for an after school club, their name will be on a register held by the member of staff running the club. A copy of this register is also held in the school office. Please inform the school on the day if, for some reason, your child will not be able to attend their ususal club one evening, so that our staff know not to expect your child at that particular session.

WRAPAROUND
The school runs a before and after school Wrapround Care 5 days a week during term time only. Pupils can arrive from 7.45am and can be collected up to 6pm. All sessions are run by members of our school staff who are familier to the children. You can find more information about our Wraparound Care by clicking on this LINK.
