Year 5 Camp Day 1

Year 5 arrived and got straight into wet-suits and buoyancy aids ready for our beach day!

We had a choice of coasteering, kayaking or canoeing (sadly not enough wind for the picos today). Everyone set off, kayackers and canoers paddled around the coast (with the odd water-fight on the way) to our own private beach where we were able to swim in the crystal clear waters! It was like being abroad! Meanwhile, the coasteerers got dropped off by speedboat along the coast and began swimming, climbing and jumping their way back to the beach.

We all met up for lunch: a chance to catch our breath and exchange stories before we headed out for our afternoon activity. Some of us changed to a different activity and some of us enjoyed canoeing and kayaking so much we did it again.

Once we got back to the beach we faced the long walk back up the hill to the campsite where we sorted our bedding out and had a shower before dinner. We enjoyed playing some football and rugby before heading back to the beach for an evening of rock-pooling and cricket. Mrs Heffer joined us on the beach just in time for cake and hot chocolate (good timing!). As the sun set we made our way back to the tents and got ready for bed. A brilliant but very tiring day. We’ve been so impressed by the children’s amazing attitudes towards the challenging activates and the instructors have commented on what a super group of children they are! We agree!
