Online Safety

At Perran-ar-Worthal School, the children go online on a regular basis as part of their learning.
In school we have a filtering system that is monitored closely and adjusted to address any changes to programmes that we feel may affect the safety of our pupils.
As part of our regular online safety lessons, our pupils are made aware of acceptable use of the internet as well as what to do if something does go wrong. Pupils are encouraged to apply this learning whenever they are on-line; in school or at home.
When at home, children may at times, have unsupervised access to the internet and social media games if they have, for example, a games console in their room. We urge parents to ensure that they check if the games their children have access to are age appropriate . The content of many of these games can often be checked on the information provided on the packaging or through research on the Internet (Common Sense Media is a useful site).
